It has been 30 years since the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching the animation giant as a major animation studio and introducing audiences to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

The preview shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
